I.
Matins helms the morning fare
With solemn chants of psalm and prayer,
While those whose virtue God applauds
Rend slumber brief to rise at Lauds.

Which flock to field while tending Prime,
Their solace roused by holy verse
When breaking fast to feast at Terce.
III.

The lighting of the lamps at Vespers,
The heav'nly shroud of Compline's flight
Gives rest to all our earthly plights.
